YOUR HAPPY PLACE | THE VIRAL Journal, Part 35

By Josh Jennrich

Several weeks back the team here at ShirtBOARDS received our first order of our 2020 collection of garments. We were so excited to get garments into the hands of the awesome folks that supported our kickstarter campaign, and to the many others who were waiting patiently for their pre orders. Since then we’ve gotten nothing but great feedback and have received so many awesome photos of some ShirtBOARD’ers rocking their messages and spreading the GOOD around the places they go!

Now, as excited as I was to get some BOARD’s into our backers hands, I was also grateful to get one of the garments for myself. If you know me, or spend some time with me, I’m always wearing my ShirtBOARD’s around town, trying my best to share our message and pass along goodness to those I meet. So I absolutely could not wait to get my “BE HAPPY” ShirtBOARD! So I took it home, washed it up, and threw it on the next day.

It immediately inspired me to do exactly what it said…BE HAPPY! I’m a very positive, optimistic, and happy human most days. To me, this is something that is easy to do because I believe that being happy or positive is a choice. Just like being sad or negative is a choice we also get to make. Now, just like everyone, everywhere, I have days that are far worse than others. Days that are full of failure, emotion, frustration, and confusion. On these tougher days, however, there is something that I do to help get me back on track toward positivity, and back to my happy place, and I’d like to share it with you so you can apply it to those days that feel hard for you.

It’s quite simple, but it will take some willingness and effort on your end. Provide yourself about 30 minutes of free time to make sure this task is fulfilling. The first thing you need to do is pull out a sheet of paper, a notepad, or something you can write on. Preferably with a pen or a pencil. The next thing you’ll do is close your eyes, and take 5 big deep inhales followed by 5 big exhales. Now that you’re refreshed, and within your mind, I want you to take that 30 minutes of time and write down all of the things that make you happy. All of the items, events, or tasks that you do or have done that make you feel your best. The things that get you wanting more of. The things that make you smile and feel good inside. If you give this task an honest and optimistic effort, there is no doubt in my mind that it will help you feel way better about your life. Once you’ve gotten all of those fun and amazing things out of your mind and onto your paper, I encourage you to keep that list within reach and to pull it out on those tough days. I also encourage you to do those happy things often! Being happy often is the easiest way of avoiding those bad days. So be happy often, and it’ll help you be you!

For Goodness Sake,

Josh
