Church Closures | THE VIRAL Journal, Part 5
By Linda Coonan
Today is Sunday and churches are closed. Now this seems to really illustrate how dangerous this is. I guess we should all pray at home. Another thing we are told to do is wash our hands. You hear this ten times a day at least on television. I think if you pray, a good time to do prayer, is when you wash your hands. That’d be a lot of praying!
The name of this disease is COVID-19. People are starting to be tested. The population of the United States is 329,000,000 people. We don’t have enough tests. We don’t have enough hospital beds if everyone were to get sick. This uninvited guest causes a fever, a dry cough, chills, fatigue and shortness of breath. It can be transmitted through the nose and breath of an infected person. Our government is trying so hard to figure out just what this challenge is about. They say 80% of the people who catch it will have a mild flu unless you have pre-existing medical conditions or are elderly. So far we don’t see infants or children getting it….but beware, they carry the germ and can infected. Grandparents won’t be seeing their children until the quarantine period ends. It will be very lonely for the elderly, but it is what we must do! There is no treatment.
Here are some cancellations and events that have happened or country! February 1 President Trump banned travel to the US from China on January 31, 2020. March 11 President would ban travel from European Nations. Americans needed to come home. The airports were clogged with people trying to get home. On March 13 the National Basketball League closed down their season, followed by the National Hockey League, and the National Baseball League. March 18 President suspends evictions and foreclosures on homes until end of April. College close, graduations postponed concerts cancelled, movie theaters closed…..the recommendation to not have gatherings of 250 people would soon drop to 50 people to 10 people.
Social distancing and hand washing…..Americans seem to be participating all across the country!
Yes we can,

Our e-journal documents the COVID-19 pandemic from our viewpoint within our community. In the short-term, we hope it promotes connectivity and contrast within our ShirtBOARD network. In the long-term, we hope it gives timely interpretations of the event to provide insight and understanding for future generations.
